The Kraken

A monstrous creature said to be able to swallow entire ships whole, the Kraken has haunted Scandinavian sailors' tales for centuries. The giant squid, long unknown alive and sometimes found stranded or hauled up by fishermen, is now considered its most likely origin: its already impressive real size was amplified by fear and imagination through generations of storytelling.
